Little Red (UK domestic)

Number of bags: One
Routes applicable: All Virgin Atlantic domestic routes operated by Aer Lingus
Weight per bag: Up to 23kg (50 lb) each
Dimensions per bag: Up to 90 x 75 x 43cm / 35.5 x 29.5 x 16ins
Exceptions:

Economy

Number of bags: One
Routes applicable: All Virgin Atlantic routes.
Weight per bag: Up to 23kg (50 lb) each
Dimensions per bag: Up to 90 x 75 x 43cm / 35.5 x 29.5 x 16ins
Exceptions: On flights from the UK to India, flights from the US & Canada to India, flights from the US to South Africa and flights from the UK/US to Lagos the allowance is two bags.

Premium Economy

Number of bags: Two
Routes applicable: All Virgin Atlantic routes
Weight per bag: Up to 23kg (50 lb) each
Dimensions per bag: Up to 90 x 75 x 43cm / 35.5 x 29.5 x 16ins
Exceptions: On flights from the UK/US to India and flights from the US & Canada to India the allowance is three bags.

Upper Class

Number of bags: Three
Routes applicable: All Virgin Atlantic routes
Weight per bag: Up to 32kg (70 lb) each
Dimensions per bag: Up to 90 x 75 x 43cm / 35.5 x 29.5 x 16ins
Exceptions: None

Infants’ allowance

Number of bags: One, plus pushchair and car seat (see below for details)
Routes applicable: All Virgin Atlantic routes
Weight per bag: Up to 23kg (50 lb) each
Dimensions per bag: Up to 90 x 75 x 43cm / 35.5 x 29.5 x 16ins.

Most sports equipment in addition to these allowances for no extra charge provided it weighs less than 23kg.

If you’d like to check in extra baggage beyond the limits outlined here, you can – but you’ll need to pay an extra baggage fee.

Virgin Atlantic Free Personal Items

Your handbag, pocketbook or purse, as you would normally use it (in other words, not just being used to contain items that would otherwise be regarded as baggage).

  • Your overcoat or wrap.
  • Your umbrella or walking stick
  • A small camera and/or binoculars.
  • A reasonable amount of reading matter for the flight.
  • An infant’s food (for consumption on the flight).
  • A small number of duty-free goods.
  • Headphones for onboard use

If you bring large electrical items with you (such as laptops), please remember that you’ll need to remove them from your bag for security screening.

Mobility aids such as walking aids and manual collapsible wheelchairs can also be taken on-board some of our flights.

Virgin Atlantic Restrictions

In the interests of passenger safety, we can’t allow the following items in hand luggage:

  • Torch-style cigarette lighters.
  • Non-safety matches.
  • Toy or replica guns (plastic or metal).
  • Sharp items
  • Hypodermic syringes – unless you have a medical condition
  • Scissors
  • Sporting bats.
  • Tradesmen’s tools
  • Any dangerous articles such as flammables, corrosives, poisons, radioactive materials, ammunition, firearms or explosives.

  • Cigars
  • Rolling tobacco
  • Cigarette papers
  • Cigarette Lighters

Note that you can carry these items onboard, but you can’t smoke them!
